Special Activities on Campus

Student Activities

Many activities are planned during the school year, which will benefit all students and the school as well. Some of theses activities will include: assemblies, school dances, school sports, activities led by the Leadership Class, and events determined by the Student Council.

Student participation is encouraged, and you will find that your involvement will make your experience at Sutter more enjoyable.

Your student ID card is required for admittance to certain school activities. only Sutter Middle School students are allowed to attend student activity events.

Guidelines for Student Participation in Extracurricular Activities
  1. Students receiving any school suspension will not be allowed to participate in any extracurricular activity for the remainder of that quarter.
  2. Students receiving two or more F's or two or more U's in citizenship on the most current deficiency notice or report card will not be allowed to participate in any extracurricular activity for the remainder of that quarter.

Student Council

The Student Council is open to all students. The student council consists of the student body officers determined in the fall election, leadership class and the 4th period representatives. The student council is responsible for the following functions:

1. All monies in the student body account.
2. Approval of all student activities, with agreement from the school administration.
3. All matters that pertain to the student body in general, with agreement from the school administration.

President: The main duties of the president include attending all school site council meetings, presiding over monthly student council meetings, and assisting the students activities advisor, principal, and vice principal in school activities.

Vice President: Duties of the vice president include attending all school site council meetings and presiding over student council meetings in the absence of the president.

Secretary: The main duties of the secretary include writing the agendas for student council meetings and distributing them prior to the meeting, taking minutes during the student council meetings, and taking roll at the meetings.

Treasurer: The main duties of the treasurer include keeping an account of student body funds, and reporting student body funds to the student council. The treasurer signs any student body expenditures.

4th Period Representatives: Each fourth period class will elect a student council representative and an alternate. The qualifications are:

1. Maintain at least a "C" in fourth period class and an overall 2.0 GPA.
2. No more than one N in citizenship and no U's.
3. Demonstrate positive leadership in the classroom.
4. Be able to miss class once a month to attend meetings.

Representative's duties include:

1. Attend all student council meetings and be prepared to discuss issues.
2. Take notes and bring announcements and accurate information back to 4th period regarding student activities and/or issues
